How to Clean a Water Flosser: A Simple Maintenance Guide
Cleaning a water flosser does not need to be complicated. For everyday care, empty any leftover water, rinse the removable parts, and let them air-dry.
For COSLUS water flossers, use water or a neutral cleaning agent. Avoid vinegar, limescale remover, caustic cleaners, and abrasive cleaners, and keep cleaning water below 40°C (104°F).
Clean Your Water Flosser in 3 Simple Steps
Step 1: Clean the Nozzle and Main Unit
Remove the nozzle and rinse it thoroughly with clean water.
Check the tip for visible residue, damage, or deformation. After rinsing, let it air-dry before storing it.
For the main unit, wipe the exterior with a soft cloth. If needed, use a slightly damp cloth with a small amount of neutral cleaning agent, then wipe it dry.
There is no need to soak the entire device during routine cleaning.
Step 2: Clean the Water Reservoir
Pour out any water left in the tank.
Rinse the reservoir with clean water. If residue remains, use a neutral cleaning agent that is suitable for the device.
Keep the water temperature below 40°C, then leave the reservoir open to air-dry.
You can also wipe around the reservoir cap and grooves where residue may collect.
Step 3: Clean the Suction Tube and Water-Contact Areas
Check the suction tube and other accessible water-contact areas for visible residue.
Rinse the suction tube gently and avoid pulling, twisting, or sharply bending it.
Once everything is clean, leave the removable wet parts open or separated until they are dry before storing the water flosser.
What Should You Avoid?
COSLUS maintenance instructions advise against using:
- Vinegar
- Limescale remover
- Caustic cleaning agents
- Abrasive cleaning agents
- Water hotter than 40°C
So even though vinegar is commonly recommended for cleaning some other water flossers, it should not automatically be used with a COSLUS model.
How Often Should You Clean It?
Keep the routine simple.
After each use: empty leftover water and let wet parts dry.
Regularly: rinse the reservoir and nozzle and remove visible residue.
When needed: clean the cap, suction tube, and other accessible areas more thoroughly.
COSLUS also recommends replacing the nozzle about every six months, or sooner if it becomes damaged or deformed.
The Bottom Line
You do not need a complicated deep-cleaning routine.
Just remember the three steps:
clean the nozzle and main unit → clean the reservoir → clean the suction tube and water-contact areas.
Then let the wet parts dry and store the device properly.
